Great trip! Looking forward to next year's BR adventure.

Submitted September 2024

By Jeff

From Portland, OR

Due to extremely rainy weather, flooding and wind, part of our biking trip was cancelled. Nonetheless our leaders, Josef and Cosima, worked very hard to come up with alternate activities that were fun and interesting. Josef and Cosima were outstanding leaders whether it was bike riding, organizing extra curricular activities or just hanging out they were beyond outstanding. No need to shop other biking adventure companies, Backroads does it all and does it incredibly well.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

We just returned home from this fantastic bike tour. Five countries in a matter of days, quaint, medieval villages, loads of history, and you never have to unpack your bags because you're on the river cruise! Would highly recommend.

Beautiful rides, great food, amazing guides

This was our first Backroads trip and it far exceeded our expectations. First and foremost, the guides and support team were amazing. They were all so kind and fun, and did everything they could to ensure we had a great time. We didn't have to think about a thing! The bike routes on this trip are so beautiful, the AMAViola ship was very classy, the food and drink were amazing, and of course the sites to see along the Danube were spectacular. I truly couldn't think of a better way to spend a week. We're hooked and look forward to the next trip!

Cyclists-add this to your bucket list!

Submitted October 2023

From Denver, CO

My wife and I just completed the Danube River Cruise Bike Tour. Bottom line...it far exceeded our expectations. The Backroads staff did an outstanding job of leading, supporting, entertaining, encouraging and educating us during our biking and cruise down the Danube River! We are avid cyclists, and weren't sure whether we'd get enough miles in each day, but we were always offered options to give us plenty of opportunities to put in the miles we wanted each day. The Backroads team supported all levels of cyclists with encouragement and smiles. The scenery was amazing, and it was so nice not to have to pack up our suitcases each day. The staff also did a terrific job of bringing our group of riders together at ride briefings, SAG and lunch stops, and some evenings. We made some wonderful friends along the way. The ship was first class with wonderful cuisine.

Just returned from our first (and definitely not last) Backroads adventure. To say that the trip exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. Every aspect of the trip, from the time we booked until the time we departed, was flawless. The accommodations, the itinerary, the leaders, and the meals were all exceptional. Our only complaint is that the trip ended. Bravo Backroads!!

My first BackRoads trip and I am hooked!

I am completely WOWED by the entire BR experience! People have been asking why it was so great and I have a hard time explaining it was EVERYTHING! Every trip detail has been perfected so you are getting the creme de le crème of everything. This is not the first Rodeo for the BR team and they are giving you The Best of The Best of everything from a dance party at the bikes to a fabulous description of the history.

Our trip exceeded my expectations, highly recommend Backroads

We had fantastic leaders and support staff during our Danube River Cruise Bike trip. It was great only having to unpack once and have laundry Ava if needed. Various riding options, so if you're not feeling like giving it your all one day- pick the ride that suits you and you never miss out on scenery or food no matter which you choose. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming-we were a family of 23 by day 2! If you are even entertaining the idea of a biking, hiking, or multi sport trip, Backroads are excellent and I highly recommend them. Not one negative thing to say about our trip.

Backroads is the gold standard of active adventures

Everything worked and it worked well beginning with a Backroads team that was professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, inclusive and so much fun. The bikes were top quality. AMA Waterways provided clean, comfortable, lovely accommodations & excellent food. We were with a group of like guests who with the Backroads team created an atmosphere of camaraderie. We began the trip as strangers and left as friends planning our next Backroads adventure.
